Influencing the world through words

B-Connect Episode 1

Hello folks! I’ve started a new series of blogs called ‘B-Connect‘, wherein I get one-on-one with a blogger. This is a great way for other bloggers as well as for myself to get to know a blogger a lot better. On my very first episode, I have with me Chandrayan. I’d like to thank him for taking part in B-Connect. Anyway, without much delay, let us get straight into the B-Connect questions!

Getting Prepped Up

What is your name, and where you’re from?

My name is Chandrayan Gupta. I am a 20-year old novelist and law student from India.

What are some of your interests?

My interests include writing (obviously), reading and occasionally painting.

What or who got you into blogging?

I guess that, being an unknown, self-published novelist, I thought that starting my own blog would help me connect with, and keep up to date, any readers I manage to win over.

Why do you love blogging?

My blog is my own corner of the internet. It’s a chance for me to express myself, to hone my craft, and to hopefully entertain any readers.

What does blogging mean to you?

To me, blogging represents freedom, self-expression, and a chance to showcase my writing skills.

Which is the best social platform for your blogs?

I created my blog using WordPress, and so far, the “Reader” feature has helped me discover new bloggers to follow and interact with.

What advice would you give to an upcoming blogger?

Just be yourself. Don’t feel that your blog needs to be something very extravagant, because your blog is just an online representation of you.

Honesty Blogger Hour

If you could meet one blogger you met online, whom would it be?

I haven’t really made many online blogger friends, but I would like to know more about a WordPress user “the whirly girl”.

According to you, name your three underrated bloggers.

I think I’ll go for – amagiquespell, a blog by Khadija Mo; Marysa Writes, a blog featuring everything from poems to writing contests; and Oby Akhigbe, a fantastic but surprisingly unknown blogger and mother of three.

Your most favourite blog you’ve written till date.

That would be the one where I introduced my pet dog to my readers. It’s titled “Meet Scooby!”

Your least favourite blog you have written.

I think my very first blog post qualifies. I had no idea what to write, so I just wrote whatever came to mind. It’s titled “Welcome To My Blog!” Somehow, it has the most likes and comments I’ve gotten on a single post, though.

The best blog you have read till date is…

I found a great blogging community recently, called “The Writing Cooperative”. So far, I think their blog’s great.

Would You Rather

Would you rather date an ugly person with a good heart or a beautiful/handsome person with a bad heart?

Beauty is subjective, so no one is universally beautiful or ugly. So I’d go for the one who has a good heart.

Would you rather help the poor or waste it on a party?

I don’t really like parties. Too many people, too noisy. So it’s a no-brainer for me.

Would you rather want your life to be full of money and suffering or less money and good health?

Trust me, I know the value of good health. I’d choose that any day.

Would you rather sit home and spend time with your family or go on a date with your celebrity crush?

Go on the date. Always go on the date. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Make the most of it, people.

No More Secrets

Describe an incident you’re not proud of.

Well, I once got on a bus when it was stationary, then upon discovering that it was the wrong bus, stepped backwards off it. Only I hadn’t really noticed that the bus was moving by then. It was a nasty fall.

Three facts nobody knows about you.

The first is that I’m really 5 feet and 10.5 inches, but I tell everyone that I’m 5 feet and 11 inches. Hey, everyone has that one thing they’re incredibly vain about.

The second is that I used to like One Direction. It was a phase.

The third is that I’m Batman.

Kidding. The third is that I sometimes dance around when no one’s looking.

Name of your secret crush.

I honestly don’t have one right now.
