Influencing the world through words

B-Connect: Episode 17

This Sunday’s B-Connect episode is a pretty special one because its the final episode of the year. Honestly, I cannot believe I’ve reached episode 17 already. I couldn’t have done it without you people. So thank you y’all.

Anyway, moving on, I have with me a blogger friend for episode 17. Her name is Krystyna Henderson and below are her answers to the questions I threw at her.

Getting Prepped Up

What is your name, and where you’re from?

My name is Krystyna and I live in London, although I grew up in the a small town in Yorkshire.

What are some of your interests?

I love travelling, exploring new places and the people, food and experiences that are all around us when we travel.I’m a strong believer in wellbeing – I journal and meditate a lot (I’d love to say I do both everyday, but I’m not that organised). And I love making things – baking, sewing, knitting are all favourites of mine. I really enjoy colours and textures and seeing the way they change and enhance each other when you put them together.

What or who got you into blogging?

I’m not really sure. There are a few blogs that I’ve followed for years, like Little Cotton Rabbits and Yarn Harlot so maybe that’s what started me thinking about the idea of having my own blog.

Why do you love blogging?

I get so much joy and peace from exploring this beautiful world that we live in and I love sharing that joy with other people, hopefully encouraging them to explore and find their own joy. I also feel strongly about people bringing a little joy and peace into their everyday lives. It’s so much easier to feel happy and at ease when you’re travelling, but keeping that when you’re home again can be harder. I like to think that my blog helps people to take a little time out for themselves, even when they can’t travel, to remember the freedom that being on holiday brings.

What does blogging mean to you?

Blogging means freedom. Freedom to talk about the things I love. Freedom to be myself. Freedom to explore the world and my own place in it. I’ve also made so many friends through the amazing online community of bloggers – those friendships mean a great deal to me.

Which is the best social platform for your blogs?

I’ve only just started using social media, so I’m not the best person to ask really. Probably Twitter and Pinterest right now, although I’ve just started using Instagram too so ask me again in a few months.

What advice would you give to an upcoming blogger?

Write about what you love. Gather advice from as many sources as you can, but filter it and use what works for you. Everyone has opinions about how you ‘should’ do things, but only you know what feels right for you.

Honesty Blogger Hour

If you could meet one blogger you met online, whom would it be?

Oh heavens! That’s a really hard question. Just one? I’m terrible at picking one of anything. I can’t even commit to a favourite colour!

According to you, name your three underrated bloggers.

Ooooo… this one is a little easier. Definitely Shalvika. Her posts inspire me so much. If you’ve never heard about a Life Resume go check it out, along with her great Ted talk recommendations. Also, Sarah at Dukes Avenue who has the yummiest travel stories mixed in with some great life and business tips. Then Hannah another travel blogger who takes the most wonderful and atmospheric photos, often of trees and woodland. So beautiful!

Your most favourite blog you’ve written till date.

You’re asking me to commit to a favourite again. I’m still no good at choosing. Usually my latest blog post is my favourite one, although my posts about Morocco always make me smile just because it’s one of my favourite places. It was first place I travelled to outside of Europe as well as being my first solo journey, so the memories mean a lot to me.

Your least favourite blog you have written.

I delete the ones I don’t like.

The best blog you have read till date is…

Probably Roads and Kingdoms. I love the grittiness and honesty and the way the writers there explore deep into a topic.

Would You Rather

Would you rather date an ugly person with a good heart or a beautiful/handsome person with a bad heart?

Does anyone ever say a handsome person with a bad heart?

Would you rather help the poor or waste it on a party?

Waste it on a party every time. Although I’d happily through a party for the poor and feed them cake and ice cream. Impractical but fun.

Would you rather want your life to be full of money and suffering or less money and good health?

If I have my health I can make money. It’s not so easy the other way around.

Would you rather sit home and spend time with your family or go on a date with your celebrity crush?

I don’t have a celebrity crush and I adore my family. I have the best daughters and any time I spend with them is full of joy.

No More Secrets

Describe an incident you’re not proud of.

I once had breakfast in a hotel with a friend and the service was terrible. We asked for the bill twice and after an hour (and a couple more self-serve coffees each) it still hadn’t come. By that time all the staff had disappeared and even though we stood by the till for ten minutes no one turned up to take our money. So we left without paying. It wasn’t an expensive meal at all, although I don’t know exactly how much it was because the bill didn’t arrive, but I still feel bad about it when I think about it.

Three facts nobody knows about you.

I’m pretty much an open book so I don’t think there are many things people don’t know about me. However,

1. I have a pet snake called Precious

2. I can’t stand grapefruit

3. I lost my childhood teddy bear on a train when I was 19 and I still think about him sometimes and hope he found a new family.

Name of your secret crush.

If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret.

Choices to Make

Twitter or Instagram

Twitter – I love the community there.

Tea or Coffee

Coffee. All the coffee. All the time.

Summer or Winter

Summer. I don’t like being cold at all.

Morning Person or Night Person

Any time person. Both are great for different reasons.

Introvert or Extrovert

Introvert probably. I love my own company and need time alone to feel happy, but I do love a great party or hanging out with friends and family and laughing too much.

Cake or Chocolate

KFC or McDonald’s

Neither, although McDonald’s breakfast is ok occasionally.

Money or Love

Difficult, because I have lots of love in my life and who couldn’t do with a little more money? I certainly wouldn’t give up the love that surrounds me for money though, so I guess love wins.

City or Countryside

Both! Definitely. I love the buzz of a city, especially London or Mumbai or Barcelona, but nothing beats the quietness and calm of the countryside when I need to recharge my batteries.

Watching sports or playing it

I don’t really do either, other than watching the rugby Six Nations in the spring each year.

Movies or TV Shows

Another hard one. I don’t know. I can’t choose.

Marvel or DC Comics

The one with Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. I’m not sure which that is, but that one.

Home-cooked food or Outside food

Outside food. I do love cooking, especially for friends, but I love eating out more.

Gift giver or Gift Receiver

Gift giver. There’s so much pleasure in working out what will make someone happy then seeing the smile on their face when they open their gift.

  1. Happy New Year! Krystyna is such a sweetheart! Love that she enjoys blogging to share her experience and meet others. Oooh, I love the underrated question. Shoot, if I had bad service, I probably would leave too but be paranoid about being caught… Though, it is their fault! Thanks for sharing all of this info :)!
