Influencing the world through words

B-Connect: Episode 5 with Hannah

The blogging series ‘B-Connect‘ which I started almost a month ago, is going great guns. I getting bloggers who are willing to be a part of B-Connect. I am also getting many non-bloggers as well. Anyway, today I am into B-Connect Episode 5 and I have with me Hannah from Pages, Places, & Plates. Enjoy all of Hannah’s B-Connect answers!

Getting Prepped Up

What is your name, and where you’re from?

I’m Hannah, and I’m from Essex in the UK.

What are some of your interests?

I have quite a lot of different interests – I have a habit of picking up random hobbies! I’d say my main interests are writing, gaming, reading, yoga, and travelling, but I also love walking, swimming, and cooking. Anything that gets me outside or lets me be creative is a good thing in my eyes.

What or who got you into blogging?

There wasn’t a person that got me into blogging but rather an itch to expand my creative activities… I also freelance as a film and game critic, and I realised one day that I just really love reviewing stuff. I’m passionate about books, food, and travel so decided that it would be fun to create a reviews-based blog around those topics. I didn’t realise how invested I’d become, but I love it!

Why do you love blogging?

I think I love how creative I can be with it – from the writing side to other parts such as photography, I can add my own creative touch on everything I can do. I love how it encourages me to try new things, and it’s really helped to build my confidence as I’ve made more friends and communicated with authors and brands.

What does blogging mean to you?

To me, blogging is a future career. It’s important to me because I see it as one of the many steps I need to accomplish in order to be able to move abroad, which is my biggest goal in life.

Which is the best social platform for your blogs?

Definitely Twitter! So many people on there are lovely and it’s been a great way to connect with others and build my brand. I feel like I can be more honest, whereas platforms like Instagram and Facebook feel a lot more deliberate and, to a point, staged.

What advice would you give to an upcoming blogger?

Don’t underestimate the amount of work you’ll have to put in! Don’t let that deter you though, as if you love it then it’s totally worth it. Always keep learning, and don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone as you’ll definitely need to at points.

Honesty Blogger Hour

If you could meet one blogger you met online, whom would it be?

I don’t think I could choose! They’re all so lovely. I follow some amazing travel bloggers so I reckon one of them, as I’d love to be able to talk about their travel experiences in person.

According to you, name your three underrated bloggers.

Again, there are so many! I couldn’t name just three, but I do feel like the book blogging community is somewhat underrated as a whole… So much time and effort goes into reviewing books, and so many book bloggers don’t even get paid for it – it’s purely out of their love of books. I think they need a lot of appreciation as it’s honestly like another job!

Your most favourite blog you’ve written till date.

My travel posts are my favourites, and I think the favourite one I’ve written is probably my review of the Lanzarote Sur excursion. It’s an experience that I absolutely love so I was able to write loads about it.

Your least favourite blog you have written.

Definitely one from earlier on in my blogging journey – my writing has improved so much since then! I’d say possibly my first ever art review on Emotions Go To Work by Zoe Beloff, however I recently updated it and like it a bit more now!

The best blog you have read till date is…

That’s a tough question! One that comes to mind instantly is Nyxie’s Nook – Chloe is an incredible blogger who has taught me so much about eating disorders and also written some really informative posts on other mental health issues. I love her writing style and she’s getting across everything that needs to be said, making a real difference to her readers.

Would You Rather

Would you rather date an ugly person with a good heart or a beautiful/handsome person with a bad heart?

Heart is always the focus for me – you could be the most attractive person in the world but if I discover that you’re not a good person then I won’t enjoy looking at you anymore.

Would you rather help the poor or waste it on a party?

I’d personally help someone if I had some money as I’m not big on parties, however I disagree that spending money on a party is “wasting” it – to someone, that party might be really important.

Would you rather want your life to be full of money and suffering or less money and good health?

Good health is so much more important to me than money… I wouldn’t say I have either right now, but I’d always opt for health because I think I would enjoy life more with it. Money is certainly useful, however I can’t see myself enjoying it if I’m not able to live my life to the fullest.

Would you rather sit home and spend time with your family or go on a date with your celebrity crush?

I don’t have a celebrity crush so that would be a pretty boring date if I chose that option!

No More Secrets

Describe an incident you’re not proud of.

Not an incident as such, but I’m not proud of the viewpoint I used to hold towards people with lower grades than me… I went to a very high-pressure, prestigious grammar school and, while I loved it there, it was kind of drilled into us that people who achieved less than A*s and As were less worthy. When I left Sixth Form I couldn’t even comprehend failing a subject as anything other than a massive fault of the person who failed it, but thankfully various life experiences have helped me to completely turn that negative opinion around (and now I work with SEN and am very passionate about it, so I’m truly a believer that opinions are not absolute).

Three facts nobody knows about you.

I honestly don’t think there are any now as blogging has led to me answering this question so many times! I guess three unusual facts about me are that I own a Giant African Millipede, I can’t whistle, and I have a phobia of singing.

Name of your secret crush.

I don’t have one!

Choices to Make

Twitter or Instagram

Definitely Twitter! Instagram is pretty but I can really be myself on Twitter.

Tea or Coffee

I drink more coffee than tea, but I do love both.

Summer or Winter

Summer always – I hate the cold!

Morning Person or Night Person

I’m more of a night person, however living with migraines has made me prefer the morning due to the fact it’s sometimes the only time I can actually function and get stuff done.

Introvert or Extrovert

I’m 100% an introvert, and I need a lot of time to recharge after social gatherings. I’m very introspective, and love spending time in my own company.

Cake or Chocolate

Chocolate cake? Is that cheating?

KFC or McDonald’s

Definitely KFC! All about that gravy, baby.

Money or Love

Love is much more fulfilling.

City or Countryside

I’ve always been drawn to the countryside… Cities are fun, but I love living out in the middle of nowhere with nature as my main source of company.

Watching sports or playing it

I find watching sports really quite dull so definitely playing it (though I’m not a massive fan of that either, if I’m honest).

Movies or TV Shows

They’re both good for different reasons. I love movies for how intense and absorbing they can be, however I love TV shows for the way they develop over a long period of time.

Marvel or DC Comics

Both are great but Marvel has Deadpool, which is an automatic win for me.

Home-cooked food or Outside food

I love cooking so I’ll go with home-cooking, however sometimes there’s nothing nicer than being served gorgeous food that you didn’t have to lift a finger for!

Gift giver or Gift Receiver

Giver – I get so excited buying gifts for other people and I love seeing a positive reaction when they open it. I also love being able to share the things I really appreciate with other people.
